W. Arthur Thompson Elderly Citizen Died Thursday

W. Arthur Thompson,80,died in the Candler Hospital in Savannah Thursday morning after a long illness.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nettie Hallman Thompson of Glennville: two daughters, Mrs. Clio Smith of Glennville and Mrs. Lois Richert of Jesup: two sons, Weyman Thompson of Savannah and Maurice Thompson of Lakeland, Fla.; two brothers, Arnie and Willie Thompson of Glennville; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at 4 p.m. at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. John G. Ivey and Rev. W.R. Barnard. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers were nephews, Hughes Thompson, H.D. Thompson, Rinaldo Thompson, Parker Thompson, Ishmael Thompson, and W.C. Dunham.

The members of the Philadelphia Lodge No. 73, served as honorary pallbearers and had Masonic Rites at the graveside.
