OBITUARY:
The obituary for Nannie was published in the Council Bluffs Nonpariel on March 18, 1931. (The obitiary gives her name as "Minnie" in error.)

"Mrs. Minnie Watts, 65, Route No. 4, Neola, died at her home Tuesday afternoon after an illness of eight months. She was a member of the Baptist church and had been a resident of southwestern Iowa for twenty-three years, she was born in Tennessee.

Surviving are her husband, John Watts; three sons, Frank of Atlantic, Ia, Hugh of Fort Calhoun, Neb., and Jake, living at home; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Anderson of Neola and Mrs. Bessie Worley of Council Bluffs; four brothers, Henry Bentley of Josephine, Tex., and John, Frank and George Bentley, all living in Tennessee; one sister, Mrs. George Meyers, also in Tennessee, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 p.m. at Cutler's funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Washington township."

YEAR OF BIRTH:
There are a few reports as well as her tombstone that would indicate her birth year as 1861. I don't believe that is true. I went back and checked the 1870 census and she was 1 year old. In the 1880 census, she was 12 years old. In the 1910 census as Nancy Watts, she was 41. All this would lead a person to believe a birth year of 1868.
