From "History of Central Washington, A History of the Famous Wenatchee, Entiat, Chelan and Columbia Valleys":

"GEORGE W. LARNER, for many years an orchardist in the Sunnyslope country, was a native of the District of Columbia. At an early age he became a page in the United States Senate, and knew quite well such intellectual giants as James G. Blaine, Roscoe Conkling, Gen. John A. Logan, Mathew H. Carpenter, George F. Edmunds, and others. Mr. Larner came to Washington Territory in 1889, locating
at Port Angeles, where he went to work in a shingle mill. Mr. Larner was for many years a resident of the Puget Sound country, the mild climate and scenery of which he came to love. He said he saw most of the towns of the sound arise from forest land to become populous cities."

"On February 1, 1896, Mr. Larner was married to Miss Amelia A. Hutcheon, at Portland, Oregon. Two sons have been born to this marriage: Walter S., and John H. Mr. and Mrs. Larner came to the Wenatchee country in 1910, and developed an orchard tract, on which they erected an attractive house. The son, Walter, formerly a deputy sheriff, is now with the city engineer, and John is with the county engineer. Mrs. Larner is a native of Wisconsin. Her parents pioneered in that state and with them she emigrated to Dayton, Washington, in the year 1882, at which time that section of the country was far from populous. Mr. Larner passed away in Wenatchee in the spring of 1928."
