Sarah Elizabeth Blankenship P'Pool: The name P'Pool is a shorter version for PettiPool and Poole or Pool is also used. The name variation was a hinderance on finding Sarah.

After years of not knowing what happened to Sarah our great grandmother, and several years of trying to find her, we finally did. All we knew was that she was taken away in a wagon.

Having had five daughters two which were the youngest and twins died very young, Callie Rae P'Poole was born in 1899, she died in 1914. Allie Mae P'Poole was born in 1899, she died in 1902. The other three married at early ages.
Family secrets or just not knowing what was going on, either way, one hundred years ago seems like ancient times compared to now. Her husband had already passed away when she went to the hospital and was there less then a week when she passed away. My grandmother was only 14 years old, away from home and married.

I am honoring my great grandmother with this memorial.

I am also honoring my sister Diana Hart Hazelbaker. She is the one who spent all the time, phone calls, snail mails and all that it took to find Sarah. She was made a Kentucky Colonel because of her correspondence with Frankfort, Ky. Thank you, Diana.

Even though Sarah has been gone for almost 100 years, we have learned who she was and how she lived and she is very real to us. Now that she has been found, she will never be forgotten.

We love you, Sarah.
