Funeral services for Gerald Thomas "Jerry" Ashabranner, 74, of Clarksville, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at Kraft Funeral Services, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with entombment and military honors at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.

He was born Nov. 27, 1935, in New Albany, to the late William and Stella Bunch Ashabranner. He was an Army veteran and a former employee with the old Taystee Bakery in Louisville. He was active with the Clarksville Little Generals Football League, Clarksville Little League, a 40-year volunteer with Parkwood Elementary School, and a judge for "Odyssey of the Mind" Student Achievement Program on the regional and world levels. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, American Legion Post 35 in Jeffersonville, and a 30-year member of Clarksville Optimist Club.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, two sons, a daughter, two stepsons, a stepdaughter, two sisters, five grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Richard Ashabranner; and sisters, Stella Hancock and Martha Dempsey.
