He was born Nov. 27, 1935, in New Albany, to the late William and Stella Bunch Ashabranner. He was an Army veteran and a former employee with the old Taystee Bakery in Louisville. He was active with the Clarksville Little Generals Football League, Clarksville Little League, a 40-year volunteer with Parkwood Elementary School, and a judge for "Odyssey of the Mind" Student Achievement Program on the regional and world levels. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, American Legion Post 35 in Jeffersonville, and a 30-year member of Clarksville Optimist Club.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, two sons, a daughter, two stepsons, a stepdaughter, two sisters, five grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, William and Richard Ashabranner; and sisters, Stella Hancock and Martha Dempsey.
