The dates of birth and death are approximate.
Jacob is probably the immigrant, who signed his name in old German script, when he witnessed a deed for George and Deborah Boone in Berks Co., PA in 1740. He may have been living in Exeter Twp, Berks Co. at the time. The first documented record of Jacob is in Berks Co., PA, per Berks Co. PA tax lists 1759-1765. There were two Fix families in Berks Co. One is the family of Lorentz (from Germany) and the other Jacob, the weaver. DNA results prove that they were not related. Some say they think Jacob came from Germany, while others mention Alsace, but so far, no one has proven anything in that regard.

Per VA Tithable lists 1769-1775, Jacob was in Loudoun Co. VA. It is unknown when he left Virginia. It would appear that Jacob went from Berks Co., PA to Loudoun Co. between 1765 and 1769. He was on the Tithables until 1775 and perhaps longer, but some of the lists are missing. Jacob was probably in Augusta Co., VA, at the time of his son Phillip's marriage.
