Fleming Hodges Garrison is the son of John Garrison and Emily Hopson Johnson. He married first to Sara Watts Lacy on December 28, 1851 in Rusk County, Texas.

Children of Fleming and Sara Garrison:
Elizabeth Hopson Garrison
John W Garrison
Claiborne Fletcher Garrison
Rhoda Ann Garrison
Joseph Lee Garrison

Sara died in 1875. Fleming married second to Mrs. Sue Webb Menefee on September 24, 1879 in Rusk County, Texas. Sue was a young widow who had five children from her previous marriage still living with her. In the 1880 US Census, the combined family included Flem's youngest son Joe and the Menefee step-children: Albert, Sallie Lu, Jonnie T., Sebee, and Willis K. Menefee. Flem and Sue later had three more children together.

Children of Fleming and Sue Garrison:
Dora Garrison
Hodges Sue Garrison
Anna Shaw Garrison

When Sue died, Flem was 63 years old, ill, with three daughters under five years old - Anna Shaw was barely a year old. Flem asked his cousin Lou Rogers Johnson to care for the baby; Lou and Earl Johnson raised her as their only daughter. At Flem's death, daughter Dora went to live with her mother's Culbertson kin, and daughter Hodges stayed in Tatum with her half-brother and sisters.

Sue is buried with her first husband, Tatum Menefee. Fleming is buried beside his first wife, Sara Lacy Garrison. All are buried at Harmony Hill Cemetery in Rusk County, Texas.
