MARY JANE (MICKLE) OLDHAM

MRS. OLDHAM, 81, BEDFORD NATIVE, DIES IN GEISTOWN

Had Spent Majority of Life in Vicinity of Pleasantville - WAS HERE SINCE 1930

Mrs. Mary Oldham, aged 81, former well-known Bedford County resident, died at 5 o'clock this morning at the home of her son, Nathan Oldham of Geistown, with whom she had been visiting. Her demise followed an illness of 10 days of complications incident to advanced age.

She was the widow of George R. Oldham, who passed away August 28, 1930. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Oldham had been making her home with her son-in-law, H.F. Hoover of 750 Russell Avenue, Moxham.

Born near New Paris, July 12, 1854, she was a daughter of the late Franklin and Charlotte (Cuppett) Mickle.

She spent practically her entire life in the vicinity of Pleasantville, having only come to Johnstown to reside after the demise of her husband nearly six years ago.

Mrs. Oldham is survived by these children: C. Bert Oldham of Village Street, David O. Oldham of Seattle, Wash.; Nathan F. Oldham, at whose home her death occurred, and JOhn M. Oldham of Alum Bank.

She was a sister of Isaac Mickle of Bedford County, Sylvester Mickle of New Paris, Samuel Mickle of Altoona and Mrs. Emma Wendel of Fishertown.

Mrs. Oldham also leaves 10 grandchildren.

A daughter, Mrs. Faustin Hoover, died in 1929 and four brothers, John, Emanuel, William and an infant expired a number of years ago.

The deceased was a member of the Pleasantville Evangelical Church.

The body of Mrs. Oldham may be viewed at her son's home in Geistown until 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, when it will be removed to the John Oldham residence in Alum Bank.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the John Oldham home by Rev. M.L. Kaufman, pastor of the Pleasantville church, assisted by Rev. George R. Haden, pastor of the Grove Avenue Methodist Church.

Interment will be in the Pleasantville Cemetery, under the direction of Clifford Blackburn, Alum Bank mortician.
