The son of James Anderson Armistead and Emily Strong Colley. Was a teacher. Had moved to Santa Anna, California for health reasons, but returned to visit his brother. His body was discovered in mid-Jan 1890 floating in the Chattahoochee River. He was buried in the family graveyard near Alcova, GA according to his obituary. No marker.
