"GILBERTSVILLE- Archie D. Saunders, 71, of Gilbertsville, died unexpectedly Wednesday in the Hosptal, Sidney.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gilbertsville First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Roger L. Beach, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery, Gilbertsville, where military burial sevices will be conducted by the Gilbertsville American Legion Post, 1339.

Mr. Saunders was born in the Town of Butternuts May 16, 1893, the son of Charles J. and Nellie (Wright) Saunders. He married Emily Halbert on Feb. 25, 1917, in Gilbertsville. Mr. Saunders was a farmer all his life in the Town of Butternuts, where he also served on the Board of Assessors for 20 years. For the past ten years he was chairman of the Board of Assessors. He was a veteran of World War One, during which he saw active service in France. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gilbertsville; charter member of Butternut Valley Grange; charter member of Gilbertsville American Legion Post.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Park, Mount Upton; one son, Norman Saunders, Gilbertsville; five grandchildren; three brothers, Lloyd Saunders, Morris; Orla and Glenn Saunders, both of Garrattsville, and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by the Moore Funeral Home, Gilbertsville."
