Funeral services for Frank T. Nelson, 82, Meeker County resident for more than 65 years and Litchfield police chief for 23 years, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Hagglund Chapel. Rev. E.E.Johnson will officiate. Mrs. R.J.Lenhard, organist, will accompany the soloist, Boyd Nystrom.
Mr. Nelson passed away early Tuesday morning at the Litchfield Hospital, where he had been a patient for a month.
Frank T. Nelson was born March 2, 1864 in Goodhue County and came to Litchfield with his parents as a young boy. He has made his home in Meeker County most of the time since. In June, 1886, he was married to Miss Mary Peterson and they had five children. Mrs. Nelson passed away in 1925. He was married in 1927 to Mrs. Luella Robbs, who survives. Mr. Nelson served as sheriff for Meeker County for two terms (four years) and as Litchfield's chief of police for 23 years, retiring seven years ago, May 1.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children. Mrs. H.C. Allers (Mabel) of Litchfield; Sidney T. of Spokane, Washington; Mrs. Ralph Norstedt (Vera) of Ross, North Dakota; and Boyd M. of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; three sister, Mrs. H.E.Dahl of Santa Monica, California, Mrs. E.P.Jackman of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Julius Jacobson of Cosmos; and two brothers, Luther J. of Litchfield and Albert of Minneapolis. A son, Robert, died two years ago.
