Tillman George Cooper was the son of George Cornelius Cooper (1878-1937) and Emma Lou Crisp (1881-1944). He was born at Anderson County, Texas and died in combat during World War II in France, while serving in the United States Army. He was most likely named after his maternal great-grandfather, Joel Tillman Crisp (1820-1911). Federal records show that the military grave marker was applied for by his brother, John Mark Cooper.
