Graveside services for Mrs. John W. Robbins, widow of the former state treasurer, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery. The body will be at Cook Funeral Home until shortly before the services. Mrs. Robbins, 95, a former house mother of Kirby Hall at the University of Texas, died early Monday in a Methodist Church home for the elderly in Dallas.
Born in Natchez, Miss., Dec. 6, 1872, Mariel Adams Robbins was active in the Women’s Society of the First Methodist Church of Austin. After the death of her husband, she became house mother of Kirby Hall. Kirby Hall is the Methodist dormitory at UT.
She was the step-mother of the late R. Brown Robbins and Leonard A. Robbins, both of Austin, and of Horace A. Robbins and Walter L. Robbins of Wichita Falls.
