Joseph L. "Chief" Peebles, 83, of Magic Plains Nursing Home, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors.

He had been a resident of Borger for 52 years and was a retired carpenter. He was born Dec. 4, 1896 in Oklahoma Territory.

Mr. Peebles was a member of the First Baptist Church. Additionally, he was a member of the Cherokee Nation.

He died at 5:30 p.m., Monday, at Magic Plains Nursing Home.

Born in Oklahoma Territory, Mr. Peebles had been a resident of Borger 52 years. He was a retired carpenter and a member of First Baptist Church. Also a member of the Cherokee Nation, he was known as "Chief."
