-- ROCK HILL - Mr. Henry C. "Phil" Belk Jr., 83, passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, in Rock Hill, S.C.

A native of Van Wyck, S.C., Mr. Belk was born on May 17, 1927, a son of the late Henry C. Belk Sr. and Kathleen Bates Belk. Mr. Belk was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and he was retired from CSX Railroad after 34 years of service. He was also a lifelong member of Van Wyck Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Belk was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Mary Mack Long of Chapel Hill, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma of the home; a son, Phillip "Craig" Belk and his wife, Paula, of Rock Hill, S.C.; a brother, Ralph William Belk Sr. and his wife, Nettie, of Matthews, N.C.; two grandchildren, Kristen Kathleen Belk and James Joseph Belk of Rock Hill; and many loving nieces, nephews and special friends.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Belk will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Van Wyck Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Randy McSpadden officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service in the church. Interment will follow the service in Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mr. Belk to Van Wyck Presbyterian church, c/o P.O. Box 68 Van Wyck, SC 29744 or Wayne T. Patrick Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
