Born on February 28, 1952 in Westfield, NY, Edward "Pete" Haskins passed away on August 10, 2010 in Waynesboro, Virginia, after a short battle with cancer.

Pete was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Jeanne Baker, and three brothers; Steve, Jeff, and Dave.

Pete leaves behind his beloved wife, Kathy D. Haskins, stepdaughters Tiffany and Judi Scharfman; brother Jesse Haskins and wife Margaret Crowley; brother Charlie McCoy and wife Missy; one sister Norma Courtney and children, Ben and Angela Haskins.

Pete served in both the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines.

The happiest times for Pete were spent fishing with Kathy and the girls, reading a good book and watching the wildlife from the porch of their home in Virginia.

A past winner of the James River Chili Cook-off and a recipient of the "People's Choice" in the Vienna Chili Cook-off, Pete displayed his love and expertise in cooking and grilling. His other loves included his beloved Chows, Snoopy and Lung; and his beautiful Koi pond; and dragons.

Special love is extended to Pete's brother Jesse and sister-in-law Margaret "Maggi" Crowley, who took such good care of him during his last days on earth before he passed into beautiful eternity.

Sleep well, dear Pete, until we see you again.

Services will be at Arlington Cemetery on September 30, 2010 at 12:30pm.
