Married David Waller Mitchell on December 30, 1857.

On October 27, the community was saddened when the news reached us of the death of Mrs. David Waller Mitchell (formerly Miss Mary Jane Holley).

Mrs. Mitchell was 83 years, 1 month and 21 days old. She leaves to mourn her loss one brother, Mr. John Holley; 8 children, Messrs. John Albert Mitchell and Joshua Caleb Mitchell of Whitmell, VA, David Lee Mitchell and William Henry Mitchell of Dryfolk, VA and James Coleman Mitchell of Danville, VA Mesdames Cora Powell and Sallie Elliott of Whitmell and Mrs. Molly Slaydon of Callands. VA, 58 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren

All of her children were by her bedside but one when the end came. She died with pneumonia being sick only 11 days, and expressed a desire of being ready and willing to go. She was laid to rest in the Holly burial ground in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends and relatives at Whitmell.
