Oscar Lewis Schlegel, for many years a farmer in Berks county, died yesterday at the home of a son, Irvin Schlegel, at Long Swamp. He was aged 78 years. Mr. Schlegel has been retired since the death of his wife, Eliza Jane, nee Moll, Schlegel, several years ago. He held membership in the Grace Evangelical church, Kutztown. Surviving are the following children: C. LeRoy, Wescosville; Earl A., Pennsburg; Eugene B., Lyons; Irvin B., Long Swamp; Edwin L., Monterey, and Sadie B., wife of Curtis Reinert, Dryville. Also surviving are four brothers, William and Charles, Allentown; Ammon, Reading, and Raymond, Kutztown; and three sisters, Mrs. Katie Spohn, Trexlertown; Mrs. Alice Silsdorf, Kutztown, and Mrs. William Hauser, Reading. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the home of his son, Irvin Schlegel, Long Swamp, with continued services in Grace Evangelical church, Kutztown. Interment in Fairview cemetery, Kutztown.

Oscar married Sarah Haas on 01/25/1890. She died on 12/20/1893 amd he then married Eliza Jane Moll on March 23, 1895.
