She was born June 5, 1924, in Brewer, the daughter of George and Bertha (Fillmore) Baker.
Mrs. Bemis worked for many years at W. T. Grant's and Freese's Department stores in downtown Bangor. As a military wife, she traveled extensively with her husband and family and enjoyed summering for many years at Green Lake.
Surviving are her son, Leland and his wife, Carol, of Holden; two grandsons, Brendon Bemis and Scott Bemis of Holden; a brother, George Baker and a sister, Eleanor and husband, Richard Miller, all of Florida; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Bernice Emery and her husband, Bill, of Michigan.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Lloyd and Robert and a sister, Daisy.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Gifts in memory of Marjorie may be made to the Maine Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, 169 Lancaster St., Portland, ME 04101. Arrangements are by the Hay & Peabody Funeral Home, 749 Congress St., Portland, ME.
