The second wife was Hester Jo (Preston) Brown she was my Great Aunt and she died in Harris Co., Texas in 1947.
J. Elmer Simmons, Long time Iowa Park resident, died Sunday morning in a Wichita Falls hospital. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Highland Cemetery with the Reverend Kenneth Flowers, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Tanner Aulds Funeral Home.
Born in Aurora Mo., Simmons had resided in Iowa Park 25 years. He operated a repair shop and was a member of The American Legion. He married Georgia Holloway April 26, 1951 in Henrietta, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, three stepdaughters, Mrs. Kenneth Erickson of Crosby Minn., Mrs. Fred Spradlin of Fort Worth and Mrs. Carl Dickerson of Wichita Falls; and two stepsons, Wayne Holloway of Minneapolis, Minn.,and Kenneth Holloway of Fort Worth.
He died at the Wichita Falls State Hospital. Had heart disease and being treated for pneumonia.
He was first married to Delia about 1918 in Missouri, Had a daughter named Nellie Mae about 1919. Unknown what happened to Delia but between 1920 and 1930 he married Jo Hester/ Hester Jo Preston between 1940 and 1942 she died or divorced. In 1951 he married Georgia Mae Hollander.
