Mr. Leland G. Edwards, 82, of Florence, passed away at his home Sunday, June 28, 2009 after a lengthy illness.
Leland began a 46 year career with the Florence Electric Department as a teenager, working his way up as Supervisor of Services, and retiring as Safety Director for the City of Florence.

He was a member of the Woodmont Baptist Church and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School class. He was a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge # 14 and a member of IBEW local # 558. He had been awarded the Silver Beaver by the Boy Scouts of America.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home. The graveside service will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Greenview Cemetery with Rev. Chad Hess officiating.

Leland is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Edwards; daughter, Jan Edwards Stone and husband Ronnie, Florence; son Eddy Edwards, Florence; grandchildren, Jonathan Edwards, Janna Stone and Kim Stone Olive and husband Brent, all of Florence; great-grandchildren Livia, Lilly Ann, and Landon Olive; brother, Graham Edwards and wife Marguerite, Florence; sisters-in-law, Ruth Chambers, Asheville, NC and Grace Hurd, Charlotte, NC; a special family member, Eva Muse, Florence.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Edwards, Blake Edwards, Scooter Muse, Johnny Muse, Bill Inskeep and Johnny Riedel.
