Dora was born on Jan. 11, 1883 in Vigo County, Indiana, a daughter of Asa and Laura Jane (Van Cleave) Brown. Dora married Harry Bailey in Vigo County, Indiana on Dec. 16, 1903. They owned and operated a farm in northern Union Township in Hendricks County where they lived all their married life. They had two children: Buford Emmons Bailey born on June 2, 1906 and Vileta Doyne Bailey born on Nov. 13, 1908.

A son, Buford, and daughter, Miss Vileta, and one grandchild, Genevalois Bailey, survive. Mr. Bailey died April 16, 1943.
