Ruth Beckler Melton, resident of Corsicana, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008 in Corsicana at the age of 80 years. She was born in Chappell, Nebraska on January 1, 1928 to Delmer Beckler and Clara Roth Beckler. Ruth was a member of Northside Baptist Church for 58 years. She was employed at Tom's Foods for 15 years and with Corsicana I.S.D. for 10 years working at Fannin Elementary in the cafeteria, and was a volunteer with Food for Fitness in Corsicana. She loved her grand kids and loved to cook and bake food for them.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Cecil "Tex" Melton in 2001. Survivors include her children: Marilyn Boulter and husband David of Murchison, Clara Machal and husband Bob of Haughton, LA., Deborah Knavel and husband David of Dresden, Brent Melton and wife Rene' of Dallas, and Mike Melton of Waco. Twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Brother Gary Becklar and wife Jean of Mesquite. Sisters: Donna Little of Oregon, IL, Mary McCall of Chappell, NB., and Millie EichelBerger of Mansfield, MO.
Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, May 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in the Dresden Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Melton, Todd Melton, Nick Melton, Lance Lockridge, Aaron Melton, Brad Albright, and Dan Planeta.
