Mrs. Owen was President of Martha Reid Chapter 19, UDC in 1921.

She was the niece of John English Wandell, who belonged to Company "H", 29th GA Regiment and discharged with his company after General Lee's cessation of war. He volunteered when a mere boy, was wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga; sent home for treatment; rejoined his command after recovery and remained until the end of the war.

Leonora was the daughter of Mrs. Willoughby Drew (Mary Edna Wandell) who was a charter member of Martha Reid Chapter and at one time was poetess laureate of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Florida Division. She was the wife of Frank H. Owen.
