Samantha was the daughter of Elisha Alden (1788-1858) and Sally Avery Alden (1784-1846). On May 7, 1836 she married Simeon Wyllys Munger. They were the parents of three daughters and three sons: Amelia Malvina, Siba Hand, Esther A., Simeon W., Spencer E., and Levi Perry Munger.
