George R. "Fox Hunter" Minter, 81, passed away at his home on Rives Rd., Sunday.
Born 1856 near Leatherwood, Va.
For many years he farmed at the same time taking an active interest in the civic and religious interests of his home community.
About 18 years ago he moved with his family to Martinsville, where he entered the retail mercantile business, continuing in that work until some years ago when he retired.
He was active in the work of the Primitive Baptist church, being one of the organizers and builders of College Street Primitive Baptist Church here.
He was the son of the late Elias J. Minter.
Surviving are his wife, and the following children: Mesdames: Tyler Shorter, Leaksville, N.C., Joe Minter, Koehler, Va., P. L Hodnett and Miss Nola Minter, city; Messrs. Johnnie Minter, Leaksville, N.C., Jesse Minter, Draper, N.C., Tillie, Thomas, Homer and Muscoe Minter, all of this city and one sister, Mrs. Jim Winn of Ridgeway, Va.
Funeral services were held from the late home Monday. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
