MILLERS CREEK - Mr. Verlie Durant Foster, age 88, of Friendly Grove Church Road, Millers Creek died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his home. Funeral Services will be held Monday 3 p.m., October 18, 2010 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with the Rev. Billy Ervin officiating. Burial with military honors by Post #1142 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in Millers Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Mr. Foster was born October 16, 1922 in Wilkes County to Coy and Annie Eller Foster. Before retiring, he worked for Modern globe and was a member of Millers Creek United Methodist Church. Mr. Foster served in the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by: his wife, Madeline Rash Foster of the home; two sons, Verlie Leon Foster and wife, Judy, Bobby Lawrence Foster and wife, Phyllis of all North Wilkesboro; one brother, Coy L. Foster, Jr. and wife Missy of Advance; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Millers Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4705 Boone Trail, Millers Creek, NC 28651.
