Services for Blanton Dale Wallace, 77, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in LakeRidge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Couch and the Rev. Tommy Stewart officiating.

Burial will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia under direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

Wallace died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born July 10, 1921, in Shamrock. He attended Southwestern College in Weatherford, Okla. He graduated from Landig College of Mortuary Science in Houston. He married Dorothy Rogers on June 21, 1942. He served with the Medical Corps and 10th Mountain Division in Italy during World War II and received the Distinguished Service Award. He returned to Tulia in 1945. He owned Wallace Funeral Home in Tulia until retiring in 1977. He served on the City Council and served as manager of the Tulia Cemetery Association. He and his wife moved to Lago Vista in 1981, and they moved to Lubbock in 1987.

He was a volunteer for the AARP/IRS program for eight years at the Senior Citizens Center and Grand Court Retirement Village. He was a member of LakeRidge United Methodist Church and Foundation Sunday school class, Prime Timers and LakeRidge Couples Club.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ann Kendrick of Lubbock; a son, Rick of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Building Fund at LakeRidge United Methodist Church, 4701 82nd St., Lubbock 79424, or to South Plains Food Bank, 4610 Locust Ave., Lubbock 79404.
