Myrtle E. Smith, age 79, of Avery, TX, passed away, Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Deport, Tx, to James Alford "Fred" and Margarette Eunice Kerr Cannon. She was retired from the Avery Independent School District and a member of Austin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Her husband, Alvin Lee Smith, a daughter, Betty Ward, and a son Tommy Ward preceded her in death.

Graveside services are set for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Avery Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Estes officiating. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Honorary Pallbearers are Paul & Jared Stephens, Jeffery Butler, Michael & Randy Willingham, & Marvin Strawn.

Surviors include four sons and one daughter-in-law, Alvin Smith of Hughes Springs, TX, Mark Smith of DeKalb, TX, Doug and Stacey Smith of Blossom, TX, and James Smith of Avery, TX; four daughters and three son-in-laws, Mrytle Strawn of Daingerfield, TX, Janet and Jeff Butler, & Jeannie and Brian Stephens all of Hughes Springs, TX, and Edith and Robert King of Carthage, TX; two brothers, Billy and James Cannon both of Paris, TX; fourteen grandchildren; and two & one on the way great grandchildren.
