Irvin C. Eberly, 47, of Big Rock was found dead at the rear of his home early Friday morning. He had been shot in the head, about 1½ inches over the right eye and was found dead by his wife who heard the shot. A 32 caliber pistol was found lying beside his body which was about 12 feet from the rear entrance to the family home. He was lying face up.
He was born June 17, 1913, in Hinckley.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; five sons, George, Ronald, Rolf, Irvin and David Eberly, all of Big Rock; three daughters, Mrs. David (Annabelle) Benson and Judy and Kathy all of Big Rock; two brothers, Ray Eberly of Aurora and Kenneth of Chicago.
Funeral services were held at Our Savior Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Paul G. Krentz officiating. Interment was in Pierce Cemetery.
