Keith W. Haines, 100, of Billings and former longtime Livingston resident, died early on Tuesday morning, February 3, 2004 at Valley Nursing Home Health Care Center in Billings. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be scheduled and announced in the spring at Franzen Davis Funeral Home in Livingston.

Memorial services for Marguerite (MacDonald) Haines, 94, and Keith W. Haines, 100, of Billings and formerly Livingston residents, will be held at 2 p.m. of Friday, May 28, 2004 at Franzen Davis Funeral Home in Livingston. Graveside committal and burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The Rev. Lyndon Kacick of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate.

Mrs. Haines was born on March 10, 1907 in Choteau, Montana and she died on April 18, 2001 in Billings. Mr. Haines was born on October 14, 1903 in Sheridan, Montana and he died on February 3, 2004 in Billings. Cremation has taken place.

Both spent their early lived and attended schools in or near their hometowns. After graduating from Sheridan High School, Mr. Haines attended Dillon Normal College and later received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Montana in Missoula and a Master of Arts from Montana State College in Bozeman. He spent 43 years in education, 20 of them as an elementary teacher and principal. He served school systems in Bozeman and then Livingston, where he was Superintendent of Schools until his retirement in 1969.

Mr. Haines was a life member of Livingston Lodge #32, A.F. & A.M., Livingston Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Montana School Administrators Association. He also served many years as secretary of the Livingston Rotary Club, and was a member of the Christian Church in Bozeman.

Marguerite moved to Bozeman after graduating from Teton County High School. She was employed as a secretary in the Agronomy Department at Montana State College. On August 23, 1928, she and Keith Haines were married in Butte, Montana. Mrs. Haines spent 73 years as a wife, 72 years as a mother, 49 years as a grandmother and 22 years as a great-grandmother. She was a 50 year member of Orient Chapter #6, Order of Eastern Star in Livingston; the Rebekah Lodge and the Christian Church, both in Bozeman; and did volunteer work for many other organizations.

Survivors include their son and daughter in law; grandson and two great-grandsons.
