OSSW Wife Elva & "Bud's" brother James & his Wife Dorothy

"Bud" Birch died July 15th 1937 during a Mine Explosion at the Baker Mine Northwest of Dugger owned by Glendora Coal Company. "Bud's" Brother Jim also passed in the explosion. A total of 20 were killed in the explosion along with 9 others which were injured critically, while 174 were able to escape.

"Bud" left behind his wife Elva and 3 children.
