John R. Baylor, 81, Weinels Crossroads area of Allegheny Twp., died Sunday, March 13, 1983, at 8 p.m. in his residence. He had been in declining health the last two months.
He was born Jan. 18, 1902 in Frostburg, Jefferson County, the son of Joseph and Harriet Cousins Baylor.
He had lived at his Weinels Crossroads residence the last seven years, previously living in Vandergrift.
He had been employed on the street crew for the Borough of Vandergrift, retiring in 1983, following six years of service.
He previously was employed by the Vandergrift plant of U.S. Steel in its shipping department.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen A. Wilmot Baylor; two sons, Ward E. Baylor, Avonmore and Paul E. Baylor, Wickenburg, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Emma) Crissman, Allegheny Twp., Mrs. Vernon (Joy) Crissman, Wickenburg, Ariz., and Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Budosh, Hyde Park; 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; four brothers, Daniel, Fred and Edward Baylor, California, Ward Baylor, Apollo; and one sister, Mrs. Robert (Stella)Frye, California.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence and by a sister, June Hardwick.
Friends will be received by his family on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Clawson's Funeral Home, Second St. at Main St., Leechburg, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Harry Jordan, pastor of the First Baptist Church Leechburg.
Burial will follow at Brookland Cemetery, Allegheny Twp.
