Son of Thomas Elliott and Ann Eliza Langford.

Elliott, William On the evening of November 13, 1930, after a brief illness, William Elliott, quietly passed away. He was one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Robertson County. With the exception of four years in the Confederate army, he spent his long life of 87 years, 1 month and three days near the place of his birth in the 14th District. He was a member of the Sunday School at Head Church, where in active life he attended church. The great big heart that prompted him to shoulder his gun in the dark days of '61 and fight for the country he loved, continued to throb within his breast. He always stood for that he thought was right. He was the only Confederate left in the district and often said he was ready to go and be at rest. He was married in 1870 to Louise Jane Gower, who preceded him to the grave 10 years ago. To this union was born six children, one daughter, Mrs. G. F. Head died April 9, 1922. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. John Lawrence and Mrs. Joe Head; three sons, James T. Elliott, W. Bennett Elliott and Dr. G. H. Elliott; two nephews, John Elliott and Robert Gower; and one niece, Mrs Joe Gower, whom he and his companion reared for as one of their own. Burial was in Head's Church Cemetery.
