OBIT - The Daily Journal, Macomb, Illinois, Thursday, May 19, 1955 Mrs. Elizabeth Vance, 54, Rock Island, Dies
Mrs. Elizabeth M. Vance, 54 of Rock Island, a sister of Perry Hay and Earl Hay of Macomb, died yesterday in Moline Public Hospital after an illness of several months. She had been a patient at the hospital since the first of the year.
Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. Friday at the Hodgson Funeral Home in Rock Island. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. The Rev. Garth Maynard will conduct the services.
Mrs. Vance was born July 18, 1900, in McDonough County, a daughter of Marion and Phenie Plate Hay. She was married to Harry Vance in Macomb in 1916. She has resided in Rock Island for the past 26 years. She was employed in the Rock Island County recorder's office for the past six years and was an auditor for the Royal Neighbors of America for 12 years. She was a member of the 15th Avenue Christian Church of Rock Island.
She is survived by two sons, Stanley L. Vance and Sterling H. Vance, both of Rock Island: a sister, Mrs. Lola Sheehan, Rock Island: three brothers, Perry Hay, Earl Hay, and Emmor Hay of Farmington; and four grandchildren.
Three brothers previously died.
