Peter served in WWII enlisting from Papatawa, Woodville (c/o Mrs O'Hagan).

He was a labourer in Dannevirke and served as Gunner with the 35th Battery, B Force, 8th Brigade, NZ 3rd Division, Second NZEF, Third Echelon. His next of kin was his sister, Mrs Udy of 25 Spring St., Sandport, Portsmouth, England.

A function for two members of the overseas forces was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs T. Bust, Napier road, Papatawa on Tuesday night. The guests of honour were Private Stewart Clifford and Sapper Arthur Taylor. Also present were Sapper O'Hagan and P. Treague

A most friendly and enjoyable social evening was held at Papatawa recently when Mr and Mrs A. E. Dickins entertained a large gathering of residents in honour of Private P. Treagus, a member of the third echelon, who is home on leave.
* On the eve of his departure for camp, Gunner P. Treagus was tendered a private dance in the Papatawa Hall on Monday evening by Mr and Mrs A. F. Dickins, a large number of local residents being present. Cards and dancing occupied the evening. The euchre tournament was won by Mrs Pirie and Mrs McGregor. Music for dancing was supplied by Mr L. Henry. Mr E. D. Cattahach, president of the Papatawa Patriotic Society, expressed the regret of all at the departure of Gunner Treague and good wishes for his future welfare. He also thanked Mr and Mrs Dickins for arranging the gathering. Mr Dickins said he was pleased to see such a large attendance.
Gunner Treague and Sapper J. A. V. O'Hagan (John Amon Valentine O'Hagan) were members of the third echelon who returned to camp by train at noon yesterday, when a large number of town and district residents gathered at the station to see them off.

Welcome Home Function
The Institute Hall was well filled on Monday evening when the Woodville and District Patriotic Society held a function to welcome home two local men who have returned from active service in the Middle East. They were Lance-Bombardier P. J. Treagus and Driver W. Craig. The evening was spent in dancing to music supplied by Brooker's orchestra and Mr B. Goodman was M.C. Before the supper interval the Mayor, Mr Chas. Forbes, extended to them a welcome on behalf of the people of Woodville and district expressing the hope that they would soon be fully restored to good health. The president of the Woodville branch of the R.S.A., Mr D. Keay, also extended a hearty welcome and promised the returned men that the R.S.A . would do all in its power to assist them. The guests of honour, who suitably replied, were accorded musical honours and cheers.
