FLORENCE - Travis Cliett, 69, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Montpelier to the late Julia Dill Cliett Cosgrove and Abner B. Cliett. He worked with the Mississippi Department of Vocational Education and later for Continuing Education at Mississippi State University. He was a member of Palestine United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of MSU with postgraduate work at University of Southern Mississippi. He married Mavis Elmore on April 17, 1957.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel in West Point with the Rev. Harold Robinson. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery in Montpelier.

Survivors include his wife, Mavis Elmore Cliett of Florence; one daughter, Julie Cliett of Richland; one son, Robin D. Cliett of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Dale Cliett and DeAnn Cliett.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christy Allison Cliett.

Pallbearers will be Vaughn Davis, George Davis, Dale Cliett, Larry Teesdale, Randy Davis and Ben Cliett.

Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at Calvert Funeral Home.
