Enlisted July 4, 1863, with the 36th Pennsylvania Militia; honorably discharged August 11, 1863. Subsequently mustered in at Harrisburg on August 31, 1864, with the 208th Pennsylvania Infantry; honorably discharged June 1, 1865, at Alexandria, Virginia.

Jacob C. Albert was born October 1845 (possibly 1844), the son of John & Sarah Albert. In 1860, he was a farmer living with his family in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County.

He married Elizabeth Brenneman c. 1865 and fathered John A. (b. 09/??/66), Cara A. (b. @1868), Sarah A. (b. 1869), Harvey William (b. @1873), Elmer Elsworth (b. 04/08/80, d. 04/15/81), Francis May (b. 05/17/82), Edna (b. @1885), Katie R. (b. @1886), and James G. (b. @1892). Although he was a lifelong resident of Dauphin County, he died July 22, 1912, in Cleveland, Ohio. His remains arrived in Harrisburg for burial within three days of his death.
