He was born May 13, 1927 in Butler to Frank and Fairy (Smith) Kunkle and remained a lifelong area resident.
On December 21, 1946 he married Lenoria Picklesimer, with whom he celebrated 60 years of love and devotion.
A 1945 graduate of Butler High School, he joined the Navy to serve his country during WWII.
Although he worked for Mansfield Tire and Rubber, he was continuously engaged in agriculture, raising crops and livestock. He later developed a portion of his land into what is now known as the Clear Fork Mobile Home Park. For 20 years he and his wife owned and operated the park, as well as keeping the crops and farm.
Duane enjoyed water skiing and boating, but his passion was tractor pulls. He never missed the Bellville Street Fair Tractor Pull.
In the winter, he and Lenoria spent time at their home in Lake Wales, Florida where he operated a small citrus grove.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Mrs. Randy Gregg (Nancy) of Fredericktown, a son Donald Kunkle of Bellville, six grandchildren Mrs. Christopher Foster (Angella) of Mansfield, Mrs. Daniel Skinner (Michelle) of Bellville, John Gregg of Fredericktown, Abigail, Rebecca, and Donnie Kunkle all of Bellville, and two great grandchildren Austin and Juliya Foster of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by a brother Donald Kunkle; and a sister Eileen Grant.
An intimate family service was held Sunday, December 9, 2007 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. Burial followed in Zion Four Corners Cemetery.
