Millard "Artie", my father was the son of James Henry Arthur* (1889-1973) and Harriet Porter Arthur* (1890-1989) Millard was born in Ticonderoga, NY. He was the second son of six siblings: James "Skipper" (1913-2008), Lawrence "Snuffy" (1916-1985), Carl "Toddy" (1917-1986), Mary "Mars" (1920-1990) amd Shirley "Shoil" (1924-1999).

Millard was a Sgt. in the US Army entering 6 May 42 in Camp Dix, NJ. His military qualification was Rifle Expert and military occupation was Rifle NCO 745. One of his assignments was with The 607th Tank Destroyer Battalion. Dad's assignments included Ardennes, Normandy, Rhineland and northern France. He was wounded 16 Aug 44 and again 27 Sept 44 both times in France. For this he received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. He was picking scrapnel from his legs until the day he died. Among other decorations and citations were: European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal. Dad's discharge took place 20 Oct 45 at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. All military information comes from his dischare paper.

Dad married Margaret Mary Arthur* in 1947 and was the father of Peter, Patrick and Gail. Grandfather of Brian, Josh, Amanda, Michael, Paul and Andrea. Great-grandfather of Celeste, Ryan, Ethan, Alex, Phoebe and Aaron
