He was born on June 27, 1932, in Plainfield Center, son of the late Glenn C. and Laura Warren Edick. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of West Winfield High School class of "1951". On July 12, 1951, he was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart, Shirley A. Entwistle, in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. From that time on, Bob, along with his wife, have made Herkimer their home.

In 1958, Mr. Edick joined the Village of Herkimer Fire Department, where he remained for thirty-two years, retiring in 1990.

Bob was a member of Herkimer Elks Lodge #1439 B.P.O.E., the Polish Club, and Excelsior Hook and Ladder. He loved sports and attended most Herkimer High School sporting events. He was also an avid New York Giants and Syracuse University fan.

Bob genuinely enjoyed people. He was a man with a great sense of humor and a gift to gab. In his retirement years, you could easily find him going for a long walk in Herkimer and stopping to talk to nearly everyone along the way. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.

Surviving him are his devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Shirley; two sons and their wives, Robert D. and Jutta Edick, of Bamberg, Germany, and David A. and Janet Edick, of Monument, CO; a daughter, Beth Ann Fullington and her companion, Nate Acker, of Ilion; two brothers, Russell and his wife, Eileen Edick, of Richfield Springs, Warren Edick, of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister-in-law, Hella Wermund, of Bamberg, Germany; six grandchildren, Amy, Brett, Benjamin, Marla, Sabine and Mathias; four great-grandchildren, Kenton, Addison, Tanner and Dillon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. There are two other children who Bob loved and considered his grandchildren, Alyssia and Steven Napolitano.

Funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Paul Bailey, Rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer, will officiate. Interment will be later this spring in Unadilla Forks Cemetery . The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Members of Herkimer Lodge #1439 B.P.O.E. are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. to conduct ritualistic services.

Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
