Ralph J. Godby, 73, of West Salem, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2003, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.
Mr. Godby was born on October 4, 1929, in Watseka, the son of Fred and Vivian (Laffoon) Godby. He married Viola Roberts. She preceded him in death. He later married Rebecca Wyatt on September 28, 1969, in Wayne County. She survives.
He was an Air Force veteran and a member of Albion Moose, Olney VFW, Olney American Legion, Olney Eagles and Disabled Veterans of Olney. He was a member of Southern Unique Baptist Church in Kentucky. He had been a truck driver for Ligon Trucking Company.
Mr. Godby is survived by his wife, Rebecca Godby, of West Salem; his step-mother, Mildred Eilts, of Minnesota; a step-sister, Leah Stevens, of Minnesota; a step-brother, Richard Eilts, of Illinois; one half-brother, Earl Godby, of Czechoslovakia; two special grandchildren, Becky Myers, of Olney, and Jessi Spradlin, of Somerset, Ky.; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one brother, Clyde and step-father.
