James A. "Jim" Fox, 64, of Frederick, died Wednesday, June 12, at his home.
He was the husband of Peggy J. Fox.
Born Nov. 9, 1937, in Frederick, he was a son of Grace Blank Fox of Frederick, and the late Eldridge B. Fox.
Mr. Fox was employed as an auto mechanic for 40 years. For some time, he and his brother were proprietors of Fox's Auto Center, Frederick.
He built race cars and participated in drag racing. He enjoyed shooting pool and playing golf.
Mr. Fox was a life member of AMVETS, and a member of the Elks club and Owls club of Frederick.
In his lifetime, he was the recipient of two heart transplants.
Mr. Fox was a 1955 graduate of Frederick High School.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are one son, David J. Fox of Frederick; two stepdaughters, Wendy Zimmerman of Frederick, and Ronni Fogle of Walkersville; three grandchildren, Nathan J. Fox, Brandon Hagey and Brittini Fogle; one brother, Melvin D. Fox and wife Sandy of New Market; two sisters, Barbara Coulter and husband Robert of Seminole, Fla., and Bonnie Neal of Frederick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fox will also be remembered by his friend Steve Carlson of Walkersville.
Mr. Fox was preceded in death by one brother, Gary W. Fox.
The family received friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 17, at the funeral home, with the Rev. James W. Wolf officiating.
Interment was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
