1870 United States Federal Census
Name: Louis Ashline
Birth: abt 1820 in New York
Home in 1870: Polk, Bremer, Iowa
Post Office: Waverly
Household Members: Louis Ashline (50), Margaret Ashline (40); Melissa Ashline (15), Betsy Ashline (16), Eugene Ashline (11) [14 ?], Carrie Ashline (10), Frances Ashline (9), Eddie Ashline (2), Ira O Ashline (9/12).

In the 1900 census, Margaret is listed as widowed, so Louis died somewhere between 1870-1900. There are two more censuses that list a Louis (or rather Lewis), but they are in NY, so I don't think they are him, do you? It says she had 8 children. I think they are all on these censuses: Adaline, Elizabeth (Betsy), Melissa, Eugene, Carrie, Frances, Edward, Ira.
