JOE S. BOTTORFF, 92, of Wesley Chapel, Fla. passed away on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at his summer home in Zanesville. Born July 15, 1918, he was the son of the late John S. and Mary (McClure) Bottorff. He worked for General Electric for over 30 years. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was involved in the Reserve Officers Association of the U.S.; the Army Reserves for 26 years where he retired as a Lt. Colonel; Retired Military Officers Association; Military Officers Association of American; American Legion Post #111-Bluffton; Free Masons-Bluffton Lodge; and Zanesville Lions Club. He enjoyed Cubs baseball, carpentry, traveling, camping, play cards, and especially his family. Surviving family include his wife of 63 years, Helen (Fortener) Bottorff of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; children, Peter Paul (Virginia) Bottorff of Comstock Park, Mich., Peg Voght of LaCanto, FL, Jane Zingaro of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Eric "Scott" (Janiel Ketchum) Bottorff of West Jordan, Utah, Gina (James) Platt of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Tom (Lynda Olmstead) Bottorff of Indianapolis, and Mary (James) Sollberger of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Brian (Stephanie) Bottorff, Brad (Rose) Bottorff, Betsy (David) Knapp, Bob Bottorff, Patrick Zingaro, Erika (Tom) Opalecky, Sarah Jo Snyder Short, Kristen Sollberger, and Thomas Sollberger; and six great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Geneva Crew and Lois Wallace; brother, Harley Bottorff; daughter-in-law, Janice Peffley Bottorff; and son-in-law, Jack Voght. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial in Hoverstock Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home or donor's choice.
