My Sweet Nephew

Alton was born in Valdosta Georgia on New Years Eve 1959. I was a teenager when he was born and I remember thinking he could have waited a few hours and been the New Year Baby.He had beautiful blue eyes like his Grandfather.
He was a friendly and loving boy. He enjoyed spending the night with his Grandparents Louis and Cuba Wisenbaker. They had another Grandson born on the same day that Alton died.
He was killed in an automobile accident, along with his half-brother Jerrold David Roark. He was the son of Bobby Wisenbaker and Coretha C. Roark Wisenbaker. Coretha's first husband Everett P. Roark, Sr. and five year old son Johnny died in a drowning accident in 1949. This Mother gave birth to six sons and buried three of them due to accidental causes.
In the middle picture on the right is Alton with my two daughters. Debra Lynn Barwick is the one on the left. This was the last picture taken of Alton. We were going to the annual Thanksgiving parade in our hometown.
Alton was survived by his parents,Bobby and Coretha Wisenbaker, three brothers, Grandparents Louis and Cuba Wisenbaker, Grandmother Ella Coody, a host of Aunts and Uncles and cousins.
A joint memorial service was held with burial in two separate cemeteries. It was a heartbreaking sight to see two hearses with a following of vehicles for five miles to the country cemeteries. One hearse stopped at the road to Mt. Zion church where Jerrold was to be buried. Another mile down the road we went to Alton's burial and then came back for Jerrold's burial. That sweet Mother is still living at the time of this writing.
The grandparents and Alton's Father Bobby Louis Wisenbaker are since deceased.
