From the Louisburg College Alumi papers:
Mrs. Belle Davis Cooper graduated from Louisburg College in the class of 1903 and until her passing never ceased to promote "our school". She died January 13,1972.
Mrs. Cooper taught school for a while before marrying T. A. Cooper of Rocky Mount, about 1910. She was born in Arcola, N. C. in 1882 where her father established, built and financed a school for the education of his and his neighbors' children. George W. Davis hired his young niece to teach in this neighborhood school and thus began the career of a Louisburg Junior College president.
Mrs. Cooper's adult life was spent in and around Rocky Mount where her church work and philanthropies were well known. She was an organizer of the King's Daughter's Home, one of the first homes for the elderly. This writer guesses that in all probability Mrs. Cooper helped at least one Louisburg College student every year since the early 1930's. She worked to keep Louisburg College at Louisburg and contributed to the building of Wesleyan in Rocky Mount.
Belle Davis Cooper followed her sister, Viola D. Burt, on our Board of Trustees and was active as long as her health permitted. At her death she was a trustee emeritus.
