Mrs. Edna (Bishop) Dix, 81, of Eden Park Nursing Home, Brattleboro, died Sunday morning at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, wher she had been a patient several days.
The widow of Charles H. Dix, she was a former resident of Wilmington where she was born on July 10, 1899, the daughter of Willie G. and Ada (Wheeler) Bishop. She attended local schools and spent all her life in Wilmington until moving to the nursing home several years ago. She had been employed by Grand Union and the O.O. Ware store in Wilmington.
Her marriage to Mr. Dix took place in 1924. He died in 1932.
She is survived by two sons, Richard and Howard of Wilmington and a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Day of Vernon, Conn.; a brother, Ervin Bishop of Wilmington; four sisters, Mrs. Esther Wheeler and Mrs. Viola Morse of Wilmington and Mrs. Grace Farrington and Mrs. Hilma Tower of Whitingham; five grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Riverview Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Paul Blacketor, minister of Wilmington Baptist Church. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wilmington Baptist Church in care of Mrs. Earlene Fitch, Wilmington; or Deerfield Valley Rescue, Inc., Box 854, Wilmington.
Arrangements are under the direction of Covey & Allen Funeral Home.
