"Family and friends of Jack E. Bremer Sr., of Aurora, formerly of Glen Ellyn and Wheaton, are to gather for a 3 p.m. memorial service Friday, Jan. 8, at the First United Methodist Church, 424 Forest Ave., Glen Ellyn. A gathering will immediately follow the service at the Elks Club, 0N772 Papworth, Wheaton. Born Feb. 16, 1932, in Elmhurst, he passed away Jan. 3, 2010, at Alden of Waterford in Aurora. Mr. Bremer retired in 1985 after 23 years of service as street superintendent for Glen Ellyn. He was a retired member of the Operating Engineers Local 12 - California; a former 25-year captain of the Glen Ellyn Police Reserves; and a member of the Elks Club in Wheaton. Jack was also a contractor with his father who built many homes in Glen Ellyn. He loved riding his Gold Wing Motorcycle. He was the beloved husband of 26 years to Paulette; loving father of Jack Bremer Jr., Jim (Amelia) Bremer, Joe D. Bremer, Micki (Matt) Erieg; dear stepfather of Heather (Art) Bovio, Brett J. (Paula) Ohlson and Brad P. (Jennifer) Ohlson; proud grandfather of 11 and stepgrandfather of six; dear brother of Bonnie (Tom) McLeod and Robert (Joyce) Bremer; and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Pancreatic Cancer Network at www.pancan.org would be appreciated. Arrangements were made by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel, 800-588-1132."
