Caroline Mae Engberg, 75,
Bruce, died Saturday, Sept. 11,
2010, at Sanford Medical Center in
Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will be 1:30
p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Grace
Lutheran Church in Bruce, with interment
at St. Petri Cemetery.
Mrs. Engberg was born May 2,
1935, at Brookings, to Roy and Esther
(Holter) Stewart. She attended
grade school in District No. 57 and
graduated from Bruce High School
in 1954.
She worked for many years at
the Sawnee Hotel in Brookings.
She attended General Beadle College
in Madison and taught in rural
schools.
On June 26, 1966, she married
Leo Engberg. She was a farm wife
who loved gardening and canning,
and she was a very good cook. She
also made many beautiful crocked
items. She worked for ten years as a
custodian at SDSU.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran
Church in Bruce where she
was active in church circles. She
loved bragging about and showing
pictures of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband,
Leo Engberg of Bruce; son, Jeffrey
(Barbara) Engberg of Grand Island,
Neb.; three grandchildren: Jessica,
Grace, and Trey; five sisters: Corrine
Fenske of Brookings, Donna (David)
Kainz of Bloomer, Wis., Barbara
(James) Nelson of Holcombe,
Wis., Nancy (Douglas) Thompson
of Sioux Falls, and Susan (Harlan)
Feldhus of Bruce; a brother, David
(Debra) Stewart of Brookings; and
many nieces and nephews.
